Louisiana Long Pod Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.): one of the largest and most productive varieties known, the pods reach 40 cm in length! Okra is eaten when the pod is immature, still small in size; otherwise, it becomes tough. However, the plant produces continuously until intense cold, so we recommend continuous harvesting; it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month. Compared to other okra cultivars, this is certainly the most demanding; in fact, if it finds well-amended soil and is not stressed by water, it will easily grow to over two and a half meters in height. The very large pods also remain tender a little longer than other varieties, allowing for some variation in harvest time. Okra's immature seeds are also eaten; they are tender and crunchy, with a pleasant flavor reminiscent of peas; clearly, you will find plenty of them in Long Pod pods! Okra cultivation is also suitable for beginners and those who grow in difficult conditions.
The fruit has a strong but not invasive flavor, suitable even for unaccustomed palates, the texture is tender but without losing its typicality.
