Purple Thai Eggplant (Solanum melongena) : A large eggplant from Thailand. The fruit, a beautiful pink-purple color, has intense ribbing and can weigh up to half a kilogram.
The flesh is firm, with a strong aubergine flavour.
Suitable for elaborate, slow-cooked recipes (such as parmigiana and meatballs) where a bold flavor is required. The plant is hardy, undemanding, and highly productive. As the season draws to a close, it will produce smaller, but equally flavorful, fruits.
